The successful applicant will work with individuals, families, education staff, carers, communities and other agencies to undertake comprehensive assessments of the speech, language and communication needs of all new applicants to Seashell. They will formulate and deliver individual treatment programmes using evidence-based practice across a range of treatment options, working with teaching staff to improve communications for the children and young people in the classroom. The ability to continually evaluate progress and alter treatment programmes is also required to ensure our students have the ability, tools and resources to express themselves in class. And if the successful applicant is dysphagia trained, there will also be the opportunity to assess students eating and drinking ability again to ensure relevant treatment programmes are implemented to improve these skills.
To be able to do this successfully at Seashell, you will need to have a good understanding of the needs of people with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including autism spectrum conditions, MSI, profound and multiple intellectual disabilities and complex physical disabilities.
