We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Children and Families Leader who likes to have fun, to coordinate and grow our established children’s ministry.

You will lead our team of volunteers in providing for children and young people on Sunday mornings along with our Preschool groups, Youth groups, Messy Church as well as building on our other ministries to children and their families throughout the week.

North End Baptist Church (NEBC) is a lively, family and community-orientated Baptist Church in North End, Portsmouth.

With a broad age range of members of the church, there is a good number of children and teenagers regularly attending each week so we are looking for someone to continue to develop, grow and nurture our inclusive outreach ministry with children and young people locally; gifted in evangelism and discipleship to help children and young people to understand the truth of Jesus and equipping them to grow in their relationship with Him.

There is an occupational requirement that the post holder be a Christian.

Job Description for: Youth/Next Generation Leader

**Main Duties**:

- Manage and grow the Children’s Ministry Team of volunteers; arranging and leading regular team meetings and exploring training opportunities.
- Organise the children’s and youth curriculum for Sunday mornings using our Curriculum provider Orange.
- Co-ordinate the children’s and youth rota for Sunday mornings.
- Serve with high frequency on Sunday mornings.
- Organise and lead our midweek youth groups on a Tuesday and Friday.
- Organise and lead our Messy Church ministry and it’s team of volunteers.
- Attend regular staff meetings.
- Work closely with Designated Safeguarding Leads in maintaining high standards of safeguarding practice.
- Participate when appropriate in deliver assemblies/classroom projects to local schools and help to develop themes for them.
- To ensure that all children and young people within the life of the church are discipled, growing in their personal faith with Jesus and have opportunity to explore and use their God-given gifts.
- To widen the reach of the church toward children and young people, ensuring those whom we come into contact with have an opportunity to hear and make an informed decision to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Develop and pioneer new evangelistic ways to reach or disciple children and young people in North End, Portsmouth, in line with your own gifting and passions (e.g., music, drama, sports, dance etc.).

- Someone who has integrity, is honest and has the ability to be flexible and adaptable.
- Pastoral, listening, communication and organisational skills.

**Experience**:
You will have experience of
- Being a committed member of a church community.
- Serving in children’s and youth ministry in a church setting.
- Have an active Christian faith, with beliefs and practices aligning with those of NEBC.
- Demonstrate high standards of personal conduct, modelling Christian values and practices.
- Ability to establish rapport and respectful and trusting relationships with children, their families, carers and other adults.
- Ability to work effectively with other adults in the church.
- Ability to work on own and be self-motivated.
- Ability to work well with other churches and organisations in the local community.
- Rich in the fruit of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness and self-control.
- Basic computing skills, including ability to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Skilled in managing children’s behaviour in a church setting.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage time well.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and parents.
- Able to effectively lead team meetings and mentor volunteer team members.
