**What you’ll be doing**:
Based at St Mary & St Joseph Church in Poplar parish, this pivotal role will involve working closely alongside other staff members, using your previous maintenance experience to support to the Parish Priest and his team.

We are recruiting a Caretaker to work in Poplar parish who will undertake a variety of duties, including being responsible for the general maintenance of several parish building, including the Church itself, keeping external areas of the premises tidy and clear of any obstructions or hazards, as well instructing and overseeing any external contractors who are required on-site. Additionally, you will liaise regularly with the Parish Priest regarding schedules of work and expenditure needed to fulfil your duties, as well as meeting periodically to review the condition of the buildings to ensure health and safety compliance throughout.

**What we’re looking for**:
To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing, and be a self-motivated individual that is capable of working unsupervised with an eye for detail and the ability to act on initiative when required.

Additionally, you will have excellent organisational skills, and an innate ability to prioritise your workload effectively and discreetly if required.

You’ll be joining a dynamic team at Poplar, and will support the smooth running of the parish that is characteristic of St Mary & St Joseph’s.
