Making A Difference as An Education Re-Engagement Mentor in the Youth Justice Service
Hold responsibility for supporting case managers and other multi-disciplinary staff to identify and tackle any barriers to learning in children who are on the cusp of exclusion / have been excluded from mainstream provision, with a view to working with them with the aim of re-engaging them in appropriate full time educational provision.
To professionally challenge and advocate on behalf of young people to ensure that they are receiving suitable education provision.
In conjunction with case managers, identify and support those children who have sporadic or poor attendance / engagement in their education provision, with the aim of supporting them to remain in education and not disengage.
Directly contribute to achieving positive youth justice service outcomes linked to KPI’s including reducing reoffending, reducing FTE’s, reducing the use of custody and reducing the unnecessary criminalisation of LAC, ETE suitability and SEND/SLN provision via helping support children to remain in education.
