**Who are UKWIR?**
UK Water Industry Research (UKWIR) was established in 1993 by the UK water industry to facilitate and manage collaborative research on ‘one voice’ issues. UKWIR's members comprise 18 water and wastewater companies in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland. Our objective is to procure, manage and disseminate delivery of the findings of a programme of research for our members.
**The role: (**Reports directly to the CEO)**
The role is a full-time position involving developing, delivering, and sustaining a communications strategy and coordinating the management, recording, approval and distribution of research reports for our members and the water sector. This is delivered with support from our website provider and an external communications agency.
**Responsibilities of the Role, but not limited to**:
**Communications**
- Take a leading role in coordinating all communication activities.
- Manage the creation and delivery of the UKWIR communications strategy, working with the UKWIR team and external comms providers as necessary.
- Creating UKWIR’s newsletter, providing key information and supporting the design and layout of the final newsletter. This will also entail writing various articles and coordinating with the team for key information on a quarterly basis.
- Support the upkeep and development of the company website, liaising with website providers and UKWIR’s members
- Support Office Manager with Twitter and LinkedIn online social media accounts to maximise UKWIR presence.
**Research Publishing**
- Work with Project Managers and the Publishing team to ensure that project reports adhere to Company standard format utilising the UKWIR templates.
- Liaise with external Publishing team to ensure effective distribution of reports on a weekly/biweekly basis.
- Keep a record of reports being published in UKWIR systems and international ISBN agency.
- Review and update company forms and templates for project work to streamline and improve efficiency.
**Other**
- Compile board papers pack, written by UKWIR team on a quarterly basis.
- Recommend areas of working smarter that are cost effective for the delivery of programmes
- Responsible for organising and coordinating UKWIR events on an annual basis (including the annual conference).
- Adhere to company policy and procedures
- Work towards continued professional development (CPD)
**Key attributes and experience**:
- Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work within a small team
- Effective verbal and writing communication skills, with strong IT proficiency.
- Able to work towards project deadlines that are currently underway for the water companies.
- Effective relationship-building skills at all levels, including with our external partners/providers.
- Awareness of brand opportunities and risks on company website, newsletters, and social media accounts
- Attention to detail and proof-reading skills.
- A flare for creative, design and presentation skills for board reports, website, and newsletter
**Desirables**:
- Experience of creating a Communications Strategy
- Previous experience of working in, or with water sector
- PR experience
**Compensation Package**:
- Up to £36K DOE
- Mon - Fri (9am to 5pm)
