We are looking to recruit a LOLER Competent Person to join our team at Sparrows in Morecambe Bay.

Perform the role of nominated LOLER Competent Person for the control of lifting at the site. Use technical and practical knowledge to inspect lifting equipment, answer queries about the suitability of lifting equipment, advise in the development and execution of lift plans and ensure that lifting equipment is only issued to those competent to use it. Ensure that all rigging activities are carried out on site as directed by client representatives and in compliance with the relevant Company and client standards and procedures.

**Main responsibilities**
- Manage and control the rigging and rigging loft inventory in line with the regulations and client procedures
- Generate, review, and approve routine, simple and complicated lifting plans
- Assist in the development of lifting plans for complex lifts and control endorsement in line with appropriate client and Company processes.
- Maintain the register of persons authorised to perform lifting operations on the site
- Assist in site surveys and provide advice on equipment selection and use
- Review and maintain the site’s database of generic and specific lifting plans and risk assessments.
- Review and maintain site ground allowable loading charts / testing regimes and liaise with Sparrows and client structural / civil engineering personnel in all aspects of lift planning and assurance.
- Provide technical advice to the client site LOLER Representative or equivalent
- Assist the Sparrows CSE and client personnel with planning of complex lifts on the site
- Carry out lifting / rigging duties as required
- Undertake other works as directed by Client representatives on duties unrelated to site lifting, including emergency duties deemed to be within your competence
- Act as the PA for all lifting operations as designated by the Site LOLER Representative or equivalent nominated person.
- Responsible for ensuring that all other persons on the site and/or rigging crew are trained to the required Client standards and assessed as competent to undertake their specific duties, and that adequate control is exercised over designated laydown areas for loads
- Audit specialist contractors’ lifting equipment for compliance with Client standards
- Maintain high standards of work ethic and lead by example in your actions and demeanour so that your peers can learn from you.

**HSEQ responsibilities**
- It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager.
- The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

**Qualifications and experience**
- Recognised trade qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relatable discipline e.g Rigging & Lifting / Moving Loads etc
- OPITO LOLER Competent Person (LCP)
- OPITO Rigger Stage 3/4
- OPITO Banksman / Slinger Stage 3 / 4
- Rigging Loft Management.
- CPCS A40 Slinger Singaller - Blue Card
- CPCS A61 Appointed Person - Blue Card
- CPCS A62 Crane Supervisor - Blue Card
