PRIMARY FUNCTION/:
Cataloguing, researching and note writing for the Private & Iconic Collections department and supporting the specialists in delivering multi-category sales.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Duties include but are not limited to the following):

- Catalogue lots according to Christie’s standard practice
- Research lots including authenticity, bibliography, provenance and exhibition history using publications, London Libraries and online resources
- Co-ordinate ‘hilling’ sessions (when Specialists meet to discuss attributions and estimates of items) with specialists in the Private & Iconic Collections Department and other departments, where relevant to each sale
- Write catalogue entries and catalogue notes for lots under the guidance of the relevant Specialists
- Write condition reports
- Assist with laying out, pagination and proofing of the catalogues
- Work with the Sale -Coordinator to track photography and cataloguing status for auctions
- Liaise with restorers and other external experts and suppliers
- Work with Head of Sale and Sale-Coordinator to organise the pre-sale view
- Collaborate with Head of Sale and Sale-Coordinator to organise targeting and interest
- Telephone bidding

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Cataloging experience in Fine Art and/or Decorative Arts
- Research experience in Fine Art and/or decorative arts
- History of Art Degree or equivalent qualification or experience
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Fluency in a second European language desirable
- Strong follow-up skills with attention to details
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Excellent organisational skills with an ability to manage pressure and very tight deadlines
- Exceptional client service skills including strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple groups and sites
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to creatively problem solve
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong knowledge of JDE, COS Media Library desirable
- Strong knowledge of Excel and Outlook
