Mobile Carpenter

A great opportunity has become available for a reliable and skilled Mobile Carpenter / Plumber to join a regional company recognised for developing and training its staff to succeed in their roles. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and inreturn, you will receive a competitive salary of £33,280 per annum.

This is a mobile role so it will cover Hampshire/Surrey/Sussex/Isle of Wight.

Our client is an expanding construction and maintenance company focused on delivering exceptional service to its clients and customers. We employ over 330 staff across the south of England.

About the Mobile Carpenter / Plumber role:
Contracted to Various Contracts across the South East to carry out Fabric Maintenance and repairs to around 5,000+ buildings. Building types include:
Universities
Social Housing
Council buildings
Office buildings
Leisure Accommodation
Benefits you will receive as our Mobile Carpenter / Plumber:
An annual salary of £33,280
A call out retainer payment of £100
Up to 36 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays

The key activities you will undertake as our Mobile Carpenter / Plumber in this role will be:
To deputise for the Supervisor when necessary and as the business dictates
Carry out Operative Health and Safety Observations and make recommendations for improvements
Conduct Quality Checks on previous works and snag where required
Conduct Ladder checks and sign these off as fit for use
Conduct Mobil Tower checks and sign these off as fit for use
Assist with operative’s requests for assistance and offer guidance and solutions where needed. Ask your Supervisor/Contract Manager for assistance
To produce estimates and scope of works as directed by your Supervisor/ CM
Walk round with the client when required reviewing works as dictated, and noting any resolutions that may be needed
Liaise with the Service Manager to ensure the most efficient way in which to achieve the works are completed in a timely fashion and right first time
Take control of specific project works that need on-site supervision and to see those works to a safe and successful conclusion
What we are looking for in our Mobile Carpenter / Plumber:
Fit & Fix Mortice Latch and Latch set, Door Hanging, Door Lining and Rebated frame work
All aspects of kitchen installation with mitred worktop joints (internal & external) where applicable
Able to use the phone to communicate effectively, explaining yourself clearly and concisely understanding what information you need or need to provide
Be comfortable in dealing with customers and remain professional even when issues are contentious, especially when explaining to tenants that the right repair isn’t necessarily the repair they want
Understand the need to complete outstanding pieces prior to starting in other areas
Be able to diagnose the right repair adopting the right first-time approach
Be a team player ensuring lessons learnt, and good practices are shared amongst the team for future benefit of the service
Have a practical approach to health and safety, ensuring that you and others are safe at all times
A problem solver and be able to work out what is the right repair
Be able to self-manage and be self-motivated, prioritising and programming work in the most efficient manner
Be able to use knowledge and judgement to make the right decisions and find effective solutions to problems
Ability to understand the processes and actively engage in our culture
Ability to demonstrate you are a competent tradesperson and have the tools to do the work
Have the prerequisite technical, statutory, and legislative knowledge for the trades you perform for the company ensuring you keep abreast of updates and changes
Have knowledge of the materials and methods used in the building and maintenance industry

The Required Qualifications and Experience

A trade specific qualification minimum NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Carpentry
Must be competent in 2 other secondary skills
Full current driving licence
Over 3 years trade experience in the building maintenance industry
