Teaching Assistant opportunity in a special Primary School in Leatherhead.
An opportunity to join a special school for primary aged children with Learning and Additional Needs. Additional needs may include speech and language difficulties, autism, physical difficulties and/or medical needs.
The school's aim it to ensure that every child achieves as much as they possibly can in all of those areas that are critical for a successful life. The school provides their staff with the tools and support required to instil a strong learning culture intheir classrooms. Pupils' personal development, including their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, is extremely important to the school.
Furthermore, the school actively seeks opportunities to engage with and cater for different communities and to provide activities and experiences for our pupils in the school curriculum in order to prepare them for life in a diverse society.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher and therapy teams to ensure each child progresses towards their goals, and you will gain experience working with mild to severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities and sensory impairment,Autism, and complex medical needs. You will learn and gain experience in verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, and many other strategies used in the school.
You will need:
- An understanding of the need to support pupils with additional needs
- Experience with children
- Adaptability, motivation and initiative
