Our client is looking for Catering Assistants to help assist in a busy Hospital setting on an "Ad Hoc" basis **Job Title: Catering Assistant** **Sector**:Healthcare **Location**:St Leonards **Job Type**: Temporary **Duration of temporary role**:Ongoing, Adhoc shifts **Working days and hours**: Monday to Sunday, Shift work, 7am-10am, 9am-1pm, 1pm-8pm, 3pm-6pm, 6pm-8.30pm **Pay Rate**: Monday to Friday £10.00 PAYE Inclusive of Holiday pay Saturday £11.00 PAYE Inclusive of Holiday pay Sunday/BH £13.60 PAYE Inclusive of Holiday pay **Band**:2 **Job Summary** The Catering Assistant will be designated to one particular section but would be expected to work in all areas of the Catering Department if required to do so. The work involves general catering duties including preparation of food, service of food to patients,staff and the public, cleaning of and use of equipment and machinery, and the operation of mechanical industrial type dishwashing machines. The post holder will also be required to maintain stocks in the site’s vending machines and to handle cash. **Job Description**: - Effective service and portion control of food, beverages and snacks to patients, staff and general public. - The preparation, presentation and display of food and beverages, maintaining and recording set quality, time and temperature standards. - The effective cleaning, preparation and maintenance of the equipment and environment within appropriate restaurant/seating areas. - Effective hygiene and cleaning of all equipment and premises including: Crockery, cutlery, trays, bain-maries, fridges, trolleys, dishwashing machines and premises. - Disposal of waste using the appropriate methods. - Assisting with delivery and service of catering hospitality throughout the hospital premises. - Filling vending machines and recording stocks issued. - Awareness of food allergens within the retail outlets - To take cash in exchange for goods supplied and to complete any recording sheets as may be required. - To use electronic cash registers and take readings as directed using a computer-based software package. - To deal responsibly and effectively with customer / Patient complaints in accordance with Trust procedures **Questions** Have you worked as a catering assistant within the NHS?
