We are looking for an experienced transport supervisor to join Nationwide Platforms to manage a team of regional drivers.

As a Transport Supervisor you will have line management responsibility for a team of HGV Class 1 and 2 drivers who are based out of our depots in the London region This will be a varied role with responsibilities from ensuring the drivers are engaged and have regular communication through to dealing with escalations and conducting health and safety checks. Key responsibilities are listed below.

You will need to have managed drivers before in multi-site operations, be fully knowledgeable with transport legislation, have a fair and disciplined approach to coaching and managing a team.

In this role you will need to be flexible about travelling around the depots, though the main base will be the Customer Service Centre depot.

Responsibilities include:
- Daily line management of drivers, coaching, motivating, and leading the team.
- Ensure compliance with all road transport legislative requirements and all internal quality, health, safety and environmental policies and standards.
- Assist in managing the undertakings of the region in line with the Office of the Traffic Commissioner requirements on a restricted operator’s licence.
- Drive a high degree of vehicle availability, minimising vehicle off the road downtime, to ensure that core assets are available.
- Download tachograph heads in each vehicle listed on the operator’s licence for the specific depot.
- Ensure that each driver within the depot downloads their digital tachograph card at least once per week.
- Provide a first point of escalation for all drivers in the region for all enquiries.
- First point of escalation for transport planners in relation to driver issues.
- Conduct spot checks on PPE, securing equipment, etc.
- Conduct briefings with drivers including, but not specifically limited to, toolbox talks, safety alerts, etc.
- Assist drivers with conducting eLearning.
- Collate weekly time sheets and scan these to the Regional Transport Manager.
- Undertake regular inspections of vehicles, loads, and loading/unloading operations to ensure compliance with all legislation and company polices.
- Ensure that daily walk around checks are being done by all drivers, with defects reported as soon as reasonably possible.
- Conduct random checks on load security, vehicle cleanliness etc. on a weekly basis, ordering equipment as necessary.
- Update and manage the vehicle files within the region.
- Ensure that all vehicles are serviced in line with the agreed schedule, with running defects addressed as reasonably appropriate.
- Collate a daily issues log of driver feedback to be shared with the transport planning teams, regional transport manager and regional operations manager.
- Conduct first day inductions with all new drivers in the depot.
- Consistently strive to reduce driver churn and improve driver availability in line with company targets.
- Interpret data and report on corrective actions to address underperformance or non-compliance.
- Ensure PDA and paperwork compliance.
- Assist in the driver engagement programme on initiatives such as, but not specifically limited to, Microlise green driving, customer satisfaction, etc.
- Investigate and monitor the compliance with the company AIM line reporting procedures.
- First line management for all driver related and legal compliance issues.

About you:
- Able to lead by example with a proven track record of managing HGV drivers in a multi-site environment.
- Proficient is the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrable knowledge of transport law and the obligations of NWPs undertakings to the office of the traffic commissioner would be desirable.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Must have a current, full UK driving license.
