In just the last few years, Sterling has gone from being a small bespoke manufacturer to the largest provider of Beavertail truck bodies in the UK. **About the Role**

While having the above specific responsibilities, the individual must also play a team role under the guidance of the Stores Supervisor providing assistance and cover when required for their colleagues.

**Job Summary**

As an Inventory Controller, you will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following skills and competencies, on completion of relevant training be able to understand and help develop Sterling’s systems and processes.
- A good understanding of how inventory management systems are used, especially the aspects directly impacted by stores actions.
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills, as part of a multi-task team
- Able to work within a procedural and process driven working environment
- Able to work to deadlines and deliver to high standards following the agree processes.
- Self-starter and able to work on own initiative
- Ensure that incoming product is receipted and managed appropriately.
- Ensure that materials are ready and available for production as and when required.
- Ensure that any materials that are late or liable to hold up production are chased and followed up until they are received.
- Ensure that sub-contract processes are received back and if necessary, suppliers are chased to ensure that no late delivery situation arises.
- Carry out Inventory Control (Cycle Counting) activity to ensure stock accuracy. A minimum of 95% inventory record accuracy is required.
- To manage shelf-life control to minimise stock write down due to obsolescence.
- The creation of and issuing of Kitted needs to production
- Management of Lineside stock to ensure no “stock outs”

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Ideally possessing a relevant professional qualification in inventory management.
- Have experience of lean manufacture, kanban and kaizen continuous improvement production improvement tools would be an advantage.
- The ability to implement change and create discipline in the process.
- Possess strong organisation skills and be capable of multi-tasking
- Be a team player possessing good inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Hold a current fork-lift licence
- Be physically fit, due to the fact there is some lifting required in this role
- Have the ability to work productively, efficiently and effectively with initiative and drive under tight deadlines, whilst maintaining attention to detail.

**Benefits**:

- Company provided lunch Tuesdays and Thursdays, vast selection of hot and cold options, worth approximately an additional £0.25 per hour.
- Starting rate of £12.50 per hour, rising to £13.00 per hour on successful completion of probationary period. Further progression possible based on performance.
- Generous bonus scheme worth up to £1000 per person per annum.
- 38 hour week. Monday to Thursday 7am to 4pm, Friday 7am to 11am.
- Overtime available at time and a half, £18.75-20.25 per hour.
- Extra 3 days discretionary holiday to cover Christmas break in addition to the 28 days statutory.

**Accountabilities**
You will be accountable operationally to the Operations Management Team and functionally to the Stores Supervisor but will also offer support to other Senior Managers within the Procurement Team.

**Salary**: £12.50-£13.50 per hour
