YMCA’s housing provision in Goole provides 24-hour support for homeless young people (aged 16-25) living in Goole and the surrounding areas.

We are seeking a casual Night Duty Officer to provide planned and emergency cover to our permenant rota.

The main focus of this role is to maintain the safety of our residents and the security of the premises at our hostel in Goole. Our typical shift would be 5.30pm to 5.30am covering 7 days a week. We operate a finely tuned rota so would be able to give you plenty of notice of available shifts but ask that you are flexible to cover with short notice/emergency situations.

You will be the face of the hostel when welcoming residents and guests, controlling access to the premises in a friendly and professional manner, as well as undertaking some administrative and cleaning duties.

About You

You will be a caring and responsible person that can work in this position of trust; you will be able to work nights and weekends. You must be honest and reliable as you will form a core part of our Hostel team.

You will have good communication skills as you will be working with adults and young people with complex needs who live in our Hostel. You will provide advice and support for them where required so you will need to have sound judgement

This role would suit you if you have experience or a desire to learn skills for social work, youth work, housing, drug and alcohol services, rehabilitation services, sociology, security and much more.

You will need basic IT/Admin skills to keeping records and write reports of any incidents that occur during your shift.

You will also need to be comfortable with lone working, and performing security checks at the hostel, as well as consistent CCTV monitoring.

There is a potential for this role to become permenant in the future as well as other roles in the organisation that might suit you too.
