The Assistant Underwriter contributes to the growth of the business by being part of an effective underwriting process on new and renewal business. About the role What you need to know: - Assist in the origination and transaction of Casualty business.- Work within underwriting systems, limits and controls.- Contribution towards team target.- Comply with key regulatory and risk management responsibilities.- Track allocated workflow on AIG systems (primarily CQUAL).- Book premiums & mid-term adjustments on AIG systems (CQUAL).- Liaise with AIG service centres (e.g. policy issuance unit, multinational team, major accounts practice service team, other service centres).- Clear outstanding accounts queries and reduce error rate.- Maintain appropriate records for allocating & tracking performance v budget, renewal diaries and new business pipeline.- Promptly issue certificates (e.g. Employers Liability & Motor).- Assist in maintaining an effective filing & archiving system to aid clear desk policy.- Carry out the accountabilities and objectives within the framework of AIG Europe Limited’s Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) policy.- Maintain AIG standards and service levels.- Produce accurate and timely management information for senior management.- Implement the Regions Casualty strategy & processes.- Build on the Company profile in the market.- Work with other areas in Liability Division/AIG to achieve corporate objectives. What we’re looking for: - Educated to a minimum of GCSE standard or equivalent- Industry Qualification or working towards.- General insurance underwriting principles and practice knowledge preferable.- - Excellent organisational skills.- Ability to work on own initiative.- Good communication skills.
