**JOB TITLE**: **Maintenance Assistant**

**MAIN DUTIES**:

- To be a member of a team responsible for repair, maintenance, improvements and general duties (this could include but is not limited to decorating, tiling, minor electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry).
- Responding to Helpdesk requests from staff ensuring that all requests receive prompt attention and actions taken are documented.
- Identifying and initiating repair work in accordance with the preventative maintenance plan.
- Helping to identify and carrying out small scale improvement works duties in accordance with agreed budgets and design.
- With consideration for an individual’s particular skills, training or abilities, undertaking project work outside that which might be considered usual, routine tasks.
- Using, maintaining and storing tools and equipment in an appropriate condition and in accordance with any training and instruction given.
- Acting as one of school site fire marshalls (training will be provided).

- Liaison with, including the provision of access and supervision of, external contractors.
- Identification of breakages, damages and health and safety hazards, including dealing with minor matters and reporting where necessary to the

Bursar, Head of Estates, Maintenance Manager or Site Services Manager as appropriate
- Where required, out of hours emergency repairs exercising flexibility to fulfil the overall purpose of the role where emergency situations arise.
- Collection and removal of litter around the site (collective responsibility with

Caretaking and Grounds).
- Attending all meetings and training sessions as requested.
- To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required.

**Swimming Pool**
- Arrange and manage a system for monitoring the swimming pool water quality and temperature ensuring adherence with current legislation.

Responsible for monitoring that all appropriate checks are being carried out and recorded.
- Responsible to the Director of Sport and Bursar for all health and safety matters relating to the operation of the swimming pool.
- Knowing well and acting in accordance with the Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Operating Plan.
- Reporting issues, incidents or complaints about the operation of the pool to the Bursar and Director of Sport on a timely basis.
- Following qualification in pool plant management, the post holder will be expected to take responsibility for back washing of filtration systems on a weekly basis as well as liaising with chemical suppliers and ordering and handling appropriate chemical supplies. Responsibility will also be given for maintaining appropriate PH and alkalinity levels in the pool.
- Weekly maintenance of safety equipment (including checklists and cleaning in accordance with RLSS guidance).
- CIMSPA pool plant certification (or similar) is desirable and will be provided.

**Health and Safety**
- Ensure that all staff conduct themselves in accordance to their responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
- The post holder will, at all times, perform the duties with due adherence to all

School Policies and Procedures.
