**Trainee Rehabilitation Support Worker (Visual Impairment)** with experience of working with adults and their families within a teaching, teaching support or training capacity, excellent communication skills and an open and honest ability todeal with emotional issues is required by a well-established Charity.
**2 Year Apprenticeship Training Programme**
The Trainee Rehabilitation Support Worker (Visual Impairment) will contribute, as a full-time member of staff, to the services delivered by the Reading Team, whilst successfully completing all elements of the 2 year Apprenticeship Training Programme in RehabilitationWork (Visual Impairment). The Charity will pay the tuition fees as part of the position.
**SALARY**:Starting from £22,000 per annum

**JOB OVERVIEW**
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Trainee Rehabilitation Support Worker (Visual Impairment) with experience of working with adults and their families within a teaching, teaching support or training capacity, excellent communication skills andan open and honest ability to deal with emotional issues.
The Trainee Rehabilitation Support Worker (Visual Impairment) delivers orientation and mobility services which support the organisation’s strategic objectives and promote independence and choice to people who are blind and partially sighted.
Through personalisation, the Trainee Rehabilitation Support Worker (Visual Impairment) will learn to provide specialist holistic assessment of customer needs that will improve their wellbeing.
**DUTIES**
Your duties as the Trainee Rehabilitation Support Worker (Visual Impairment) will include:
**Apprenticeship Structured Learning** - Fully participate in and meet the course-work requirements of all modules and assessments
**Workplace Learning**:
- Plan and manage coursework commitments within the work environment and time
**Independent Learning** - Prioritise and undertake independent academic learning activities
**Performance and Behaviour** - Regular supervision with Tutors and Line Managers to secure the skills, knowledge and experience required
**Putting theory into Practice** - gradually undertaking duties at agreed levels of supervision whilst learning;
- Co-producing a staged delivery plan together with the client tailored to their needs and goals
- Plan on-going reviews of customer progress
- Input and maintain customer records within timeframes
**Personalisation**:
- Use person-centred skills to organise around the customer, focus on wellbeing, identify ambitions ad challenges and prepare a plan to deliver outcomes
**Assessment** - Assess the orientation and mobility needs, capabilities, abilities and skills-gaps for customers
**Customer Training** - Deliver a staged mobility plan in line with specific needs and capabilities related to the customers desired outcomes

**CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS**
- English and Maths GCSE/Level 2 or equivalent at Grade 4 or above
- Current, relevant, significant and verifiable experience of working with adults and their families in a teaching, teaching support or training role
- Has worked as part of a team delivering services to adults
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
- A proven ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written
- Good organisational and administrative skills and can identify problems and either manage or escalate them
- Supports their team and colleagues, and is a conscientious, trustworthy and considerate colleague
- Is open and honest and can deal with emotional issues well
- Eligibility to work in the UK
