Are you an occupational therapist, social worker or mental health nurse who has experience of working with children and adolescents in a community mental health setting? Are you passionate about children, young persons and families receiving help and support when they need it most? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an able and dynamic CAMHS Specialist Community Mental Health Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist, to join our expanding and developing CAMHS Alliance Crisis Service.
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team holding a clinical caseload and undertaking appropriate mental health assessments of children and adolescents presenting to local Hospitals, and CAMHS in crisis. The post holder will provide a range of appropriate, evidence based clinical and crisis interventions, informed by assessed individual need. The post holder will be working with adolescents with behavioural, emotional and mental health needs often in complex family situations displaying a range of risk type behaviours.
In addition to providing direct work to families and young people, the post holders will also assist the CAMHS and/or paediatrics team with treatment planning and provide consultation to families/carers and other professionals involved in the life of the young person. The role includes flexible working and work on our helpline service.
The post holders will have experience of specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and adolescents with mental health problems and their families, and be comfortable supporting young people at risk of self-harm in the community.
Supervision and support will be provided and the Trust has an excellent learning and development department, to support your career development pathway.
The post holders will need to be flexible and creative and work with a diverse population across the boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Hounslow and Ealing.
West London NHS Trust is one of the most diverse providers of mental health, community and social care in the UK.
Our 3,982 staff care for people in hospital and in the community, helping them to recover and go on to lead full and productive lives. We aim to be the best organisation of our kind in the country.
We provide care and treatment for more than 800,000 people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow, delivering services in the community (at home, in GP surgeries and care homes), hospital, specialist clinics and forensic (secure) units.
We’re rated good overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Together, we’re committed to promoting hope and wellbeing, working with patients, service users, carers, families and partners across the communities we serve.
We are keen to ensure that our workforce reflects the community it serves, particularly in terms of ethnicity, gender, disability, LGBTQ+ and experience of mental illness.
The Specialist Mental Health Practitioner will ensure the provision of highly specialist CAMHs crisis care services to children and young people and their families and/or carers across WLMHT 3 Borough CAMHS.
The role will involve the comprehensive assessment of children and young people with mental health needs (including risk assessment and the development of risk management plans) who present in crisis to CAMHS services and hospitals and sites covered by the Crisis Care Team.
The role will also include providing brief interventions and outreach work to children and young people presenting with acute psychological and mental health problems where intensive support is required to prevent admission to Tier 4 Services.
