As a Public Health Nutritionist, you be expected to provide specialist strategic support to the service in relation to nutrition, public health initiatives, special diet provision, menu planning, training, curriculum-based support work in schools and project work. To develop initiatives which allow the service to support LCC Health and Wellbeing Strategy. To develop nutrition-based initiatives to help increase business and profitability of services.

**About you**
- Have achieved a recognised qualification in Nutrition or Food Services at Degree level or working towards.
- Have knowledge or understanding of nutrition, nutritional guidelines and special dietary requirements.

**About the role**

The Public Heath Nutritionist role is within the Food Technology department and the post holder works in conjunction with the Food Technology and Nutrition manager as well as the Nutrition and Food Safety manager. This role provides specialist strategic support for Catering Leeds in relation to nutrition, public health initiatives, special diet provision, menu planning, training, curriculum-based support work in schools and project work. To develop nutrition-based initiatives to help increase business and profitability of services. Implement and provide specialist diets and dietetics services City Wide to meet the needs of Early Years and School aged Children. Work in direct contact with Education Establishments, Schools, Parents, Health Professionals, GP’s. Work in partnership across council directorates to support the work to achieve LCC’s HWBS objectives specifically in relation to lowering the number of children above healthy weight. To design and develop nutritionally balanced education Catering Leeds menus for Schools, Children’s Centres and SILC’s, in line with government legislation and documentation. To develop and deliver strategies City Wide meeting the requirements of the departmental service plan.

- Have the knowledge and ability to implement and provide specialist diets and dietetics services City Wide to meet the needs of Early Years and School aged Children. Work in direct contact with Education Establishments, Schools, Parents, Health Professionals, GP’s.
- Maintain and develop special diet database, use knowledge and influence to continually improve the special diet process and recommend further improvements which will enable efficiency in the area of special diets
- To develop food and nutrition based health promotion and support work in schools, identifying areas of development and improvement in line with national guidelines and recommendations.
