We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate individual to join our team as a Social Work Assistant.As an assistant you will support the Social Work team in delivering the Social Work duties across all areas of The Farndon Unit.There will be an expectationthat you can become a key member of the wards transdisciplinary team, whilst also having the autonomy to work independently in tasks agreed by the Lead qualified Social Worker. **Your responsibilities will include**: - Supporting the Social Worker with safeguarding administration in regard to data collection for reports and data entry onto the Care Notes system - Liaising with families and other professionals face to face, via teams and over the telephone. - Supporting residents and offering 1:1 sessions to them - Attending ward rounds and professional meetings alongside qualifies Social Worker. - Advising clients and families about what help is available - Keeping up to date with any changes in the law, and keep accurate records **To be successful as a Social Work Assistant you will need**: - A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a healthcare setting and or A minimum of 1 Years’ experience and a Qualification in Health & Social Care - Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point. - A flexible attitude towards collaborative working - Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships. - Excellent communication skills and telephone manner. - Good time management and organisational skills. - Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding - Demonstrate compassion and empathy - Resilience to cope with difficult situations. - Willingness to undertake relevant training to support delivery of safeguarding training to new and existing staff members. - Basic knowledge and understanding Mental Health Act 1983 amended 2007 Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Adult Safeguarding **Desirable skills/knowledge**: - Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and the principles within this. - Enhanced knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. - Enhanced knowledge of Adult Safeguarding. - Knowledge of benefit entitlements, system. - Experience of working within a secure hospital setting **What you will get: ** - Annual salary between £23,500 - £25,500 + Benefits - The equivalent of 33 days annual leave - plus your birthday off - Free meals - Wellbeing support and activities - Career development and training - Pension contribution - Life Assurance - Enhanced Maternity Package There are also a range of other benefits including retail discounts and special offers, car leasing without a credit check and much more.
