Application Support Officer

The position will involve working with the suppliers, clinicians, business managers, administrators, and project teams to ensure the successful implementation of new clinical systems.
Working within the Hospital Information Systems Team the post holder will be required to adhere to strict Change Management protocols that must be maintained. The post holder will ensure that the building of all system components required meets the requirements of the business users, and work with the business users at all levels to agree the build work required.
**Key Responsibilities will include**:
- Provision of fully documented guidance for configuration and testing
- Establishing security and access control requirements
- Effective communications across multidisciplinary teams to ensure productive development and use of this clinical system.
- Promote strict working practice regarding security of systems
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has circa 500 beds, 28 wards and serves a population of around 278,800 people who are living in three counties of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

Configuration
- Work with Project Managers, Product Specialists, colleagues, and suppliers to ensure thorough understanding of new software and plan on going development.
- Learn and understand reference tables/master files to aid successful build of system for local use. Ensure mapping of codes meets national requirements while supporting local use.
- Work with the Information Department, Business Intelligence Team and Project Team to ensure that reporting requirements are met and to enable confident reporting.
- Demonstrate system development/changes as required - advising on appropriate adjustment/change to practice where required.
- Work with others to agree and implement new software and the development of user specifications
- Liaise with third party software suppliers to discuss and resolve issues across all parties.
- Ensure that all documentation and records are maintained to provide accurate monitoring and support.
- Provide expert technical guidance to users and managers of the departments using the system within remit.
Training
- Familiarise self with operations and the likely concerns and constraints.
- The post holder will build a good knowledge of existing processes and be able to translate current processes into future methods of working.
- Facilitate appropriate scenarios by responding to management requirements regarding system use and data collection.
- During work with departments, identify build issues affecting training and instigate investigation where required. Assist trainers in the clarification of remedial or additional training. The post holder will have to resolve or report any issues resulting from business change and offer guidance on how work could be done in future.
- The training environments incur adverse factors, such as power failures, unscheduled training, site up-grades, software and technical problems and administrative issues with attendance. The post holder must be aware and act accordingly if related to build issues.
- Assume the position of expert on Clinical IT systems. This will involve training HIS colleagues, Department Experts, Trainers and/or Contract Trainers.
- With Training Coordinator Support Super Users/experts in their training role to ensure the effective delivery of training within Wards and Departments.
General Configuration Lead Duties
- Attend meetings and provide advice and expertise on clinical IT systems within remit.
- Provide support to the departments during the implementation and go live period for new systems deployed.
- The post holder must be prepared to work out outside normal working hours as the need dictates and attend meetings and training courses both within and outside the organisation.
- Promote the trusts Digital improvement programme at communications events using presentations, demonstrations, and interaction with attendees.
- Work with others in project settings to design, schedule, build and implement the solution. The post holders in depth knowledge of the systems will be used to inform work regarding planning, policies, procedures, and business change issues.
- The post holder will be required to instruct key staff, to data check and test the IT systems prior to acceptance. As the local system expert, the post holder will be required to give advice to management and help resolve any issues.
