Catering Assistant

**JOB TITLE**: Kitchen Catering Assistant

**REPORTING TO**: Catering Operations Manager

**ROLE PURPOSE**: To deliver a high-quality service to café, conference and event customers through prepping food in the kitchen and maximising on all sales opportunities and ensuring full adherence to health & safety and food hygiene legislation. This position is a 60/40 split with kitchen and FOH.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- To provide a friendly, informative and efficient service to all customers always
- To deliver exceptional customer service
- To assist in the successful operation of the catering service - café, conference, events, etc
- To comply with legislation in relation to health & safety & food hygiene and follow the company’s opening and closing procedures
- To work in a clean, tidy and organised way
- To work speedily and efficiently to meet and exceed customer expectation
- To record all sales through the till and ensure correct charges are applied
- To ensure accurate recording of ‘non cash’ related sales on relevant charge sheets
- To complete temperature control checks and cleaning schedules as directed on a daily/weekly basis
- To provide food and meals from the kitchen for conferences and small events and ensure the café is well stocked with handmade produce.
- To assist in stock control, ensuring all stock is accounted for from delivery to sale and that sell by/use by dates are rotated and tracked
- To deliver conference and event catering services as directed in a timely manner, ensuring observance of service time slots
- To ensure all vending and café areas are clean and well always stocked
- To maintain product knowledge - menu changes, promotions, etc and upsell to customers
- To minimise waste and ensure waste is disposed of correctly
- To handle queries/complaints in a professional manner and refer to the Catering Operations Manager/Team Leader
- To follow and adhere to the Arena’s Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Plans
- To satisfactorily undertake such training and development as the Company might feel is appropriate to the ongoing requirements of the position.
- To adhere to the Company’s health and safety policy
- To maintain the confidentiality and integrity of information held by the Company at all times
- To undertake other legitimate tasks or project work as directed

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
**1. Skills, Experience and Qualifications**

Essential
- Good general education to GCSE / O Level
- Experience of working in a customer facing role and kitchen (preferable)
- Able to communicate positively and professionally
- Able to work as part of a team and individually
- Food Hygiene L2 or above (further training can be provided)
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Highly organised.
- Able to provide a high degree of flexibility in responding to customer needs

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: Up to £11.44 per hour

Expected hours: 32 per week
