**Job Title: General Production Operative - Nights**

**Pay Rate: £9.70 - £10.20**

**Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 18:00 - 03:00 - 36.5 hours per week**

**Location: Oldham**

**Immediate start**

**Your primary responsibilities will include**:
You will be required to assist on all aspects of the production process within the Post Press Department. You will specifically be responsible for the feeding and stacking of printed material ensuring sections/inserts are loaded and fed into machine feeders. You will also assist the Operators and Assistants with their duties and will be flexible across all areas of the department and in your approach generally.

**General Accountabilities**:

- To feed and stack printed materials to specified requirements.
- Load and stack down from certain ancillary equipment.
- Handle, pack and box Inserts and Newspapers.
- Manually stack either loose or bundles onto pallets, ensure that the finished products are stacked neatly onto pallets.
- Collate, count and record all overs at the end of the production run.
- Identify and convey any quality or presentation concerns to the Team Leader.
- Work with the machine crew to optimise the change over onto the next job prior to the completion of the current job.
- Ensure empty boxes are flat packed and the area is kept clean and tidy.
- Carry out any other duty within the training and capabilities to ensure smooth running of the Post Press Department.
- Ensure adherence to the company quality procedures and safe systems of work.
- Ensure high standard of housekeeping throughout the department.

**Specific Areas of responsibility**:
Dependant on the area you are assigned to, which may change at any time during the course of the working shift, your responsibilities will include:
SITMA SPECIFICS
- Assist the machine crew with make-ready as requested, provided that training has been given.
- During run stops and periods of machine downtime, ensure that any decollation is completed.
- Operation of manual and electric pallet trucks, provided training has been given, to ensure no time is lost through waiting.
- Segregate, count and recording of overs on completion of production

POST ROOM SPECIFICS:

- Load and feed printed inserts into the machine hopper feeders.
- Assist the machine crew to make-ready the gathering element of the machine as requested, provided that training has been given.
- During run stops and periods of machine downtime, ensure that any decollation is completed.

**Health & Safety**

All work will be carried out within the care and attention required under Health, Safety and Environmental legislation with due care for personal safety and that of others. Your duty is to report anything that is in breach of Health, Safety and Environmental policies or anything that you feel could be endangering either yourself or other personnel.

It is your duty to ensure you are familiar with the relevant Risk Assessment(s) and Safe Systems of Work for your area and that you and your crew adhere to the requirements.

**Training**

Both on and off line training will be given as per the training schedule for all job tasks.

**Appearance**

All employees are provided with work wear and safety shoes. It is compulsory to wear anything provided by the company. Good personal hygiene is required.

You are expected to adopt a professional, proactive and positive approach to all of your roles and responsibilities. You are expected to adopt a courteous attitude and show respect to customers, Managers and other work colleagues at all times.

You will be expected to use initiative and a common sense approach where no clear guidelines are in place.
