**Job Description and Person Specification**

**General Purpose**:

- Preparing beverages for patrons,
- serving them at the bar or at the table including food orders.
- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment
- Ensuring a pleasant experience for every customer across all operational functions within the business.

**Bartender Job Duties**:

- Mixing beverages using an extensive range of ingredients including liquor, bitters, soda, water, sugar, and fruits
- Taking beverage orders from customers at the bar or table and serving drinks as requested, paying extreme attention to detail
- Satisfying patron requests in a timely manner
- Assessing customer preferences and making drink recommendations
- Providing a positive and friendly guest experience by interacting with patrons
- Collecting money for drinks served and providing change as needed
- Checking identification to verify legal age requirements for all customers
- Maintaining correct till balances
- Keeping a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and other accessories
- Cleaning the bar, tables, chairs, and work area to maintain a sanitary environment,
Organising the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory
- Slicing, pitting, and preparing fruit garnishes for drinks
- Preparing and serving appetisers, snacks, or other food items for customers at the bar and tables
- Complying with all food and beverage regulations
- Limiting customer problems by restricting alcohol intake and attempting to curtail inappropriate behaviour Table service duties
- Welcomes customers when they arrive at a restaurant and drinking establishment
- Introduces customers to the menu and announces daily or seasonal menu specials
- Answers questions about menu items, ingredients, and pricing
- Takes customers' orders for food and drink by writing them on a ticket, entering them into the till
- Passes customer orders along to kitchen staff for preparation
- Prepares drinks and serves them to customers
- Collects food orders from the kitchen, verifies that they are correct, and serves them to customers
- Ensures that customers are satisfied with their meals and processes orders for additional courses if necessary
- Removes used dishes, glasses, and flatware from tables
- Prepares cheques and delivers them to customers
- Processes cash and credit card payments and returns change to customers if necessary
- Sets tables with dishes, glasses, and flatware and refills condiments
- Maintains familiarity with menu items, specials, and restaurant information
- Meets with managers and wait staff daily or regularly in order to learn about menu changes and specials as well as discuss upcoming reservations and customers with special needs

**Additional Shift Supervisor responsibilities**:

- Key holder - when assistant manager not on shift
- Able to run shift unsupervised
- Able to lead the team
- Allocate and support all staff throughout the shift
- Work with the assistant manager to ensure all back of house areas are up to and exceed legal standards
- Liaise with kitchen team to prevent and resolve any problems
- Pre-empt and actively respond to any problems that may arise keeping assistant manager and executive manager up to date
- Complete all daily paper work to ensure the safe running of the venue when assistant manager is not on shift
- Complete shift feedback form if closing as senior person on duty so as to communicate any issues with higher management.
- Address customer complaints at the time of complaint
- Cash up of tills and petty cash at the end of the shift, when assistant manager and executive manager are not present
- When running shift, ensuring all staff complete the open/close down processes accurately
- Ensure all security checks are completed at the end of the shift.
- Clean the Beer and Ale lines as and when required/directed by Manager or Business owner.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20 - 40 per week

**Salary**: £10.50-£13.00 per hour
