You will form part of the West of England Immigration Enforcement Team which covers three police force areas: Avon and Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire. Your role will focus on providing operational support and assisting to manage those on immigration bail.
You will be working closely with the Immigration, Compliance and Enforcement team playing a key role in supporting the team tackle illegal migration by carrying out a variety of administrative tasks. You will help to manage immigration offenders who report to the Home Office on immigration bail which is an integral part of the Immigration Enforcement Strategy.
This is a fast moving, reactive environment, requiring strong organisational and time management skills as well as being able to make quick, well-judged decisions. You will also have the opportunity to monitor reporting regimes, obtain intelligence, promote and facilitate voluntary returns, identify vulnerability and safeguarding concerns and identify those suitable for enforced removal from the United Kingdom.
Responsibilities Operational Support:
Using multiple systems to research and organise intelligence and information from different sources. This will enable the Immigration Enforcement Team to go out and complete their day to day duties. Collating and organising all this information concisely into intelligence packages that can be easily interpreted and understood by other colleagues at senior meetings.
- Conducting appropriate checks using Home Office systems on suspected immigration offenders accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
- Identifying and referring suitable cases for compliance visits where appropriate and to complete absconder referrals.
- Referring cases into the detention estate generating necessary paperwork, pre-verifying where appropriate and ensuring all risks/special conditions are highlighted.
- Preparing and serving relevant paperwork for detain on reporting.
- Updating Home Office systems with pre and post actions for arrested persons.
- Maintaining unit spreadsheets.
- File tracking and handling correspondence received by the ICE.
- Manning the duty phone, responding to enquiries appropriately.
- Providing some general administrative assistance to the Management Team.
As part of a multi-functional team you will also have the opportunity to experience first-hand the reporting elements of Immigration Compliance and Enforcement. Other duties on occasion will include a range of the following:
- Attending Police Stations maintaining effective contact management with those who are required to answer bail, or who are asylum seekers, dealing with the public and our stakeholders face to face.
- Taking Failure to Report action, whether by phone or correspondence.
- Promoting voluntary departure, booking flights and completing associated paperwork when required.
- Identifying those who are to be detained when they attend bail.
- Conducting case progression and mitigating circumstances interviews.
- To serve immigration decisions/papers when required.
- Completing Family Split submissions for approval.
- Updating Home Office systems and progressing cases.
Flexible working hours are ordinarily available but will be limited due to reporting locations opening hours, tasked visits, and business needs. The nature of the work will require travel throughout the Region between the hours of 0700 and 1900 however there may be occasions which involve stays away from the Portishead office. Vehicles will be provided.
