**What will you be responsible for?**

As a Design Team Leader, you'll be working within the Asset & Professional Services team, supporting them in identifying highway asset maintenance needs and provide cost effective technical solutions, considering the needs of the client and key stakeholders. This will include the design and delivery of carriageway, footway surfacing and surface treatment schemes.

Your day to day will include:

- Leading a team of highway maintenance engineers in scheme design and preparation of preconstruction information delivering safe and effective highway maintenance schemes as part of the annual plan program
- Managing the design and delivery of highway maintenance schemes including agreeing scheme briefs and scheme budgets as part of the annual plan
- Preparing and managing the design programme, delivering schemes to programme and budget, meeting key dates and taking the initiative in removing blockages and overcoming hurdles
- Checking design work is completed using defined IMS processes making sure there is an appropriate level of checking and authorisation in place to manage safety, environment, quality and risk
- Managing the Highways Maintenance Design team in order to develop a motivated and competent team

**What are we looking for?**

This role of Design Team Leader is great for you if:

- Civil engineering Degree or HNC / HND with proven experience in a leadership or supervisory design role
- Knowledge and experience of highway maintenance design including design standards, ability to comprehend and lead on health & safety and CDM legislation through the design and delivery process
- Ability to inspire and motivate others, with a proven track record in performance management and team development
