Bus Driver

Overview:
To drive our fleet of buses in a safe and skilled manner in the Metrobus bus network serving our communities. We will provide training for you to obtain your PCV Bus Drivers Licence. During training, the pay rate will be £9.59 per hour. Once released to depot for the first 6 months you will be on £10.28 with enhancements available. After 6 months service you will be on £13.14 per hour with enhancements available.

- To discharge all duties with due regard to the health and safety of both self and others.
- To deliver the highest quality service to all customers whether they are travelling on our vehicles, seeking advice and timetable queries or requiring information and guidance on any service provided by Metrobus bus services.
- Welcome our customers onto our services with a warm and friendly persona. To treat customers in a courteous and professional manner, and be alert, careful, considerate and helpful at all times during their journey. Take ownership during difficult situations.
- To actively promote the Company in a positive manner to encourage current and potential customers to make Metrobus their choice for public transport.
- To operate pre-determined routes and efficiently maintain appropriate time schedules which requires high levels of memorisation. To pick up customers or sent down at designated bus stops or other safe locations.
- To comply within the Road Traffic Act and abide by Drivers’ Hours Regulations at all times.
- To ensure comprehensive safety checks are conducted on the vehicle allocated to you has met the policies and guild lines set by Department for Transport, DVSA and Company standards.
- Be prepared to complete CPC courses required in order to keep your PCV licence active and legal, this card must be carried at all times when in service.
- To maintain a smart and tidy appearance

**Personal Specifications**:

- Essential:_
- Must have a right to live and work in the UK.
- The availability to work different shift patterns required by the Company, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
- Must be able to attend your depot in a timely manner.
- Be willing to obtain a category D licence through training.
- A full driving licence, valid to drive in the UK (held for at least one year) with up to date driving experience for driving on UK roads.
- No more than 6 points on your licence and no endorsements for drink driving at any time.
- Desirable:_
- Clean driving licence
**Experience and Job knowledge**:

- Essential:_
- Evidence of delivering first class customer service to a diverse range of customers.
- Experience of handling cash.
- Desirable:_
- Experience of previous professional driving.
- Detailed knowledge of Metrobus services and routes.

- Essential:_
- The ability to deliver exceptional customer service and to communicate effectively with customers, members of the public and colleagues.
- The ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm and polite manner at all times.
- The ability to handle cash, operate an electronic ticket machine and give the correct change to customers after training.
- The ability to work individually or as part of a team.
- To be able to safely take control of a passenger carrying vehicle.
- Good time management skills.
