Learning Support Assistant

Are you a teaching assistant looking for career progression?This role can move you towards the career development / youth development sector.You will be supporting young people (16+) in their first work experience placements.The young people willeither have autism, or a learning disability, and will need your support to help them thrive in this important next chapter in their lives.
The young people you are working with are all studying on a vocational training programme that teaches them functional skills and employability.As part of the programme, the young person will attend work experience placements.You will support them withthe practicalities to help them thrive.Typical tasks could include:
- Supporting the young person to plan their journey to work so they can become independent
- Attending work with them, working closely with employers to provide support as needed
- End of day calls with the young person and employer to check on progress
- Liaising closely with the tutor around potential extra support needs
You will have a caseload of 5 - 6 young people and you will be making a huge difference in their lives.
To apply, you might be a recent graduate in a related degree such as psychology.Or you might have experience of working with young people with support needs, so could have worked as a tutor, teacher or learning support assistant or teaching assistant.Youmight have also worked as a support worker, hostel worker, careers advisor or employment advisor.
