Costing Analyst

Hours - 37.5
Rate - £21.36-£23 PAYE
Location - Nuneaton
Work to deliver regular Service Line Reporting and Patient Level Costing information, built up from a highly complex and constantly changing Patient Level Costing (PLICS) system in accordance with the NHSI Clinical Costing Standards and NHSI Approved CostingGuidance.
Extract and process data from the general ledger, PAS and other systems to create inputs into the costing system, ensuring any movements and adjustments are documented and reconciled.
Investigate income and expenditure financial codes to identify the correct treatment within the costing system. This may involve liaising with key members of the wider finance team to gain in-depth understanding.
Advise other members of the finance team of the implications associated with their proposed income and expenditure movements in the general ledger and explain the impact on costing.
Develop and maintain effective written and verbal communication with a range of stakeholders about complex and sensitive data and information.
Attend 'Deep Dive' meetings (where the SLR / PLICS information is validated, improved and used whilst working closely with the clinicians and managers with Trust directorates) and take minutes to be distributed in a timely manner.
Influence and provide direction to assist in decision making.
Explain cost allocation methods and investigate areas for improvement.
Deliver finance training to both finance and non-finance managers and staff.
Propose changes to working practices and procedures and implement plans in own area and propose changes to and redesign procedures, which have an impact in other areas.
Create and maintain complex excel spreadsheets used for processing activity, income and expenditure costing information. This will involve creating and maintaining pivot tables and using complex excel functions and formulae.
