This role is to support the Commercial Finance Manager. It both supports and challenges the business through the creation of value-adding insight and analysis.
Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager - Trading, this role offers opportunities for commercial experience, influencing decision-making, cross-functional working, and exposure to senior management.

**Your main responsibilities**
- Weekly category sales and margin performance for the two business units within the Retail division
- Interrogating various data sources to identify trends and drivers in addition to creating scenario models to support management decision making
- Analysing performance versus plan and providing MI to support the analysis
- Reconciling expected performance versus actual performance in the general ledgers
- Assisting the Trading team with making sure that billing timelines are adhered to
- Supplier Aged Debt analysis to highlight, with the Trading team, delays in the collection of Supplier and Retrospective Income
- Meeting prep for the various weekly trading reviews
- Assist in the development of the various reporting suites, building excel models, KPI packs and dashboards, using a variety of data sources including data warehouses, financial ledgers, and planning systems
- Contribute to elements of both Trading and Retail forecasts, challenging teams were necessary to derive robust and accurate planning.
- Investigating price errors within Retail and Wholesale data.
- Reconciling commercial reporting data with monthly management accounts
**About you**
- Graduate calibre, part-qualified accountant or analytical and modeling experience
- Strong commercial background, gained either via an industry route (ideally Retail or FMCG sectors)
- Proven ability to build productive business relationships with a wide network of finance and non-finance colleagues
- Proficient in co-ordinating work between multiple stakeholders and delivering information to exacting deadlines with attention to detail
- Robust, enthusiastic and proactive in setting own agenda and driving results in a fast-paced retailer
- Intellectual curiosity to understand the financial and non-financial drivers of the business and their implications for decision-makers
- Excellent verbal and written communication style and a proven ability to influence a variety of senior stakeholders
- Strong MS Excel skills, honed in an environment of operating and interrogating financial forecasting models
- Comfortable handling large volumes of data with good attention to detail
