**About the Role**
Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers and reach their potential? As a Behaviour Mentor, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to create a supportive, nurturing, and positive school environment where every student feels understood, valued, and ready to succeed.
In this vital role, you’ll work directly with pupils who need extra support to manage their emotions and behaviour, guiding them to make positive choices and build confidence in themselves. Whether it’s through one-to-one mentoring, small group sessions, or simply being a calm, consistent presence around school, you’ll help shape a culture where every young person can thrive.
You’ll collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and families, offering practical strategies and compassionate guidance that truly make a difference. Every day will bring variety, challenge, and the reward of seeing real change in the students you support.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support emotional and behavioural development.
- Help students re-engage with learning after incidents or time out of class.
- Use restorative and positive approaches to resolve conflict and promote self-reflection.
- Identify behaviour trends and work with the wider team to implement tailored support plans.
- Be a visible, approachable presence across the school, supporting pupils and staff when needed.
- Celebrate positive behaviour and contribute to a culture of encouragement and respect.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and the pastoral team to ensure every child receives the support they need.
- Coach students to develop self-regulation, resilience, and problem-solving skills that extend beyond the classroom.
**Requirements**:
- Educated to GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Experience of working with children in education, care, or youth support settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A positive, empathetic approach and commitment to supporting inclusion and wellbeing.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people, helping them grow, thrive, and achieve their full potential.
