**Job Description**:
As part of our growing team, we need a Senior Project Manager to join us on either a fixed-term or permanent basis. The purpose of this position is to provide support to our client's team by managing and delivering various projects across the department, functions, and segments.
- You will be involved with the requirements gathering, planning, project governance, project interdependence affecting the project/s, project benefits realisation, project resources, project budget, communication, and measurement.
- Coach and lead the Portfolio Team in programme management, continuously reflecting and challenging the team and creating or tailoring new ways of working.
- Optimise the flow of delivery within the team; actively addressing risks, issues and dependencies and encouraging ownership while guiding the team through the implementation of new processes.
- Tracking and reporting delivery against milestones.
- Ensuring the programme’s purpose, goals, and benefits are clearly articulated and communicated internally to stakeholders, Ministers and central government.
- Lead short-term projects, workshops and events to solve project/programme issues.
- Help to build programme and project delivery capability within the programme team and wider directorate, ensuring we have the right pipeline of skills needed to deliver.
- Supporting General Ledger management by investigating transactions and balances and suggesting appropriate corrective action.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and codify existing processes to make them more understandable for the wider team.
**Qualifications**:
- Ability to build strong working relationships quickly with a collaborative approach to achieving outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong administrative skills with ability to organise, manage time well and prioritise own work effectively whilst delivering at a fast pace, across teams.
- Experience of working to tight deadlines and prioritising competing demands ensuring high attention to detail.
- GMPP (Government Major Projects Portfolio) Experience is **MANDATORY**.
- Confidence to raise issues and concerns even in the face of delivery pressure.
- Strong familiarity with MS Office 365 software and effective in using wider IT and technology.
**At least one day of travel is required per week for this role, but it may be reviewed to become fully remote at a later date.**
