Cook/catering Assistant

**Position: Cook/Catering Assistant, Gardener’s Choice Coffee Shop, Scarborough**

**We are looking for a part-time, permanent Cook to assist in the day to day running of a very busy kitchen, providing high quality food from an agreed menu for our well-established Coffee Shop.**

**Dean’s Garden Centre is a family run business, serving local gardeners for over 50 years, with our York store opening in 1968 and our Scarborough store opening in 1986. We are proud of being a local family firm with strong roots in the local community.**

**Our Coffee Shop offers a delicious selection of home cooked meals and snacks. We serve everything from Full English Breakfast to Afternoon Tea and fabulous home baking of scones and cakes, to a range of daily specials. We offer spacious seating areas both inside and outside, allowing our customers to relax and enjoy the light and airy environment we have on offer.**

We are Dean’s Garden Centre, Scarborough, approximately a mile outside of Scarborough.

We have a fabulous, thriving 105 seat, Coffee Shop plus additional seating in our outdoor area.

At interview there will be the opportunity to find out more about us and visit the Coffee Shop.

**About the Role**

First and foremost, you will be part of a supportive, hardworking team.

Maintain a high standard of personal and food hygiene and adhere to food safety regulations.

Liaise with the Coffee Shop Manager and Supervisors.

Preparing and presenting food in line with the menu specification to a high standard.

Baking fresh scones and cakes daily.

Preparing salads, sandwiches, toasties, ciabattas and much more

Organise the hot food ready to go on the pass.

Replenishing fridge cabinets.

Ensure the Coffee Shop Kitchen is kept clean at all times.

Working collaboratively with the front of house team to ensure customers are presented with their meal to a high standard and on time.

Developing your knowledge of dietary requirements and health & hygiene.

Working with locally produced food and updating the allergens accordingly.

Provide a safe, secure and appealing food environment by adhering to the business Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Assist in controlling stock and minimising wastage.

Ensure stock rotation is adhered to.

**Ideally you will**

Have relevant food safety qualifications.

Have hospitality experience.

Have experience of working in a kitchen environment.

Understand kitchen equipment.
