Department

Gas Operations is a front office support team that provides operational controls under strict deadlines to contribute towards EDF Trading’s commercial success.

Gas Operations is responsible for operating the gas supply, demand and trade activities of EDFT. This involves ensuring nomination s (requests for gas delivery), scheduling, capacity and transportation requests are actioned on a daily basis across the UK and Continent within capacity limitations, with the prime objective of minimising financial penalties imposed under the relevant system operating regime and maximising any opportunities and a 24 hour shift team is in place to facilitate this.

The department is further responsible for executing all operational and shipping tasks associated with delivery and ongoing processing of LNG/LPG/ Biofuels cargoes. These tasks include operational notifications to suppliers, communication with LNG/LPG/ Biofuels terminal operators, agents and natural gas pipelines, as well as capturing all of this information in internal systems in a timely and accurate manner.

Position purpose
- The LPG & Biofuels Operator is responsible for the co-ordination of EDFT’s Term and spot LPG and Biofuels business within operational deadlines. This must be accomplished while ensuring strict compliance with contracts, shipping and operational protocols, and minimising financial penalties. EDFT cargoes are delivered on a variety of Incoterms.Additionally the LPG & Biofuels Operator will be involved in assisting to develop the Biofuels Business further as and when the trading desk identify new opportunities, aligning the process with different departments and stakeholders.

Other related duties are listed in this job description. The LPG / Biofuels Operator is expected to work normal office hours and be available on call out of hours due to the nature of the business.

Main responsibilities
- Managing the daily operations of EDFT’s LPG / Biofuels portfolio.
- Monitor the unloading and discharging of all LPG / Biofuels vessels for smooth calls at load/discharge ports (via agents and terminals.)
- Monitor all shipping procedures (Bill of Lading, ETAs, NORs etc) through a shipping agent if required and advise the relevant trading desk of any operational changes.
- Appoint Agents and Surveyors at load/discharge ports.
- Calculation of any laytime and demurrage claims.
- Liaise with desk and credit department to ensure LC are open by us and counterparties within constraints of the contract.
- Reporting vessel movements to Insurance department to ensure Vessels and Cargoes are insured correctly.
- Ensure all aspects of the contracts are adhered to and review any new Contracts or vessel Charterparties for operational exposure,
- Prepare voyage/documentary instructions.
- Co-ordinate with the Desk for Vessel Vetting and Chartering (Spot, COA and TC). Arrange for any required Ship Approval at terminals.
- Communicate with Master on TC vessels, where chartered
- Negotiate and book bunker stems for TC vessels as required
- Co-ordinate with Tax Department for Customs Agent and Clearance.
- Ensure all documents are provide as required for global trade.
- Ensure all internal systems are fully up to date with cargo deliveries and associated fees.
- Liaise with Desk and Product Control to resolve any P&L issues
