We are looking to recruit a full-time Maintenance Person for our care home in Guildford, Surrey.Established in 1984, we are a family-owned group of care services in Surrey and South London.

Although we try to ensure the delivery of smooth operations on a daily basis, sometimes we need a helping hand from an on-site Bob the builder (or Wendy) - which is where you come in

Whilst we’re busy providing top-quality care to our residents,you’ll be responsible for any repairs and maintenance in the care centre, identifying the areas that need attention. To ensure our surroundings are safe at all times, you’ll also be expected to conduct regular safety checks on a range of equipment.

Working in conjunction with the Home Manager, you’ll draft up a daily programme of maintenance tasks. Ideally, the ability to work on your own initiative would be smashing, as you’ll be expected to prioritise jobs according to urgency, whilst dealing with any problems that may arise in a safe, practical manner.

Alongside being an excellent mechanic, it would be swell if you’re experienced at painting and decorating, in addition to having some electrical and plumbing skills (we don’t ask for much, do we?).

Due to the nature of the role, you’ll also need to demonstrate that you have excellent knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH and Fire Safety.

Finally, you’ll be required to keep up-to-date and accurate records of the checks and repairs completed, liaise with external contractors and be on hand for any emergencies outside of normal working hours.

**Your main duties will include**:

- Fire alarm testing and recording.
- Call bell unit checks and recording.
- Fire extinguisher checks.
- Painting and decorating where required.
- Read maintenance book each day on arrival and carry out urgent jobs immediately.
- To undertake repairs if within your competency otherwise arrange for these through the Company’s Estate Manager
- Report accidents, injuries, dangerous occurrences, near misses, hazards and risks to your manager/person-in-charge whose responsibility it is to act upon such information to reduce the risk of accidents/incidents.
- To ensure adherence to Health and Safety guidelines and maintain safe environments and working practices.

**A full manual driving licence is essential**
