The post holder will be responsible for strategic planning to ensure that the Maternity and Neonatal Services keep pace with the best use of available digital tools for safety, quality and ongoing improvement. They will also be responsible for the digital literacy and skills within the Maternity and Neonatal Workforce. The post holder will be involved in reporting, investigating and resolving clinical safety incidents and making recommendations on the safety of health IT systems. They will work closely with the Maternity and Neonatal education teams to ensure that appropriate training for digital systems is accessible and effective for staff.
The post holder will work across the Local Maternity and Neonatal System, networking with other Digital Leaders and contributing to the provision of integrated care across the local system footprint in line with NHS Strategy. 1.1 Responsible for the replacement of the current maternity information system and the upgrade of the existing neonatal information system 1.2 Ensure maternity and neonatal colleagues adoption and engagement in the use of technology 1.3 Drive continuous clinical process improvement in the maternity and neonatal services focused on patient outcomes and efficiency 1.4 Support the digital empowerment of patients and citizens 1.5 Support wider Trust digital transformation 1.6 Define and deliver health informatics requirements for maternity and neonatal services. 1.7 Develop clinical information capture, analysis and use that supports and enhances midwifery and neonatal practice and organisational efficiency 1.8 Work with service users and clinical colleagues on the development, deployment, optimisation and integration of clinical information systems to support the delivery of safe and effective patient care. 1.9 Drive digital transformation and the move away from paper records towards seamless digital information sharing.
1.10 Represent the Trust at internal and external meetings with all levels of Trust staff and with suppliers as requested by the Director of Midwifery and Gynaecology, LNIO, CCIO or CIO. 1.11 Provide relevant information, support and clinical expertise during investigations of clinical incidents as required by the CCIO, LNIO or Director of Midwifery and Gynaecology. 1.12 Ensure the Trust complies with Digital Clinical Safety regulations and best practice, identifying and reducing risks. Work with Trust Digital colleagues to improve clinical safety management across the Trust.
1.13 Plan clinical risk management activities across the department and division. Facilitate clinical hazard workshops, meetings and other digital clinical risk management activities as appropriate. This will require assessing complex factors to formulation and adjustment plans as necessary. 1.14 Identify the risks associated with the implementation of digital projects and oversee the Digital Transformation Midwives in monitoring and reducing these risks.
1.15 Assess and build digital literacy and skills within the Maternity and Neonatal Workforce, overseeing training. 1.16 Oversee the reporting, investigating, analyzing and resolving clinical safety incidents and making recommendations on the safety of digital healthcare systems. 1.17 Working through the team, ensure all new systems are robustly evaluated, tested and configured appropriately prior to Go Live, including reporting functions. 1.18 Maintain a general awareness of the interface between maternity and neonatal clinical practice at the interface with digital systems and identify where practice goes outside safe limits.
1.19 Contribute towards the development of digital system specifications tailored to support and enable programmes of maternity and/or neonatal care.
