**Where do you account for people ** **as a Graduate Trainee Accountant?**

The team at Torfaen County Borough Council delivers the many essential services that help shape the lives of the 92,000 people who live in our borough. Our work is vital to the quality of life enjoyed by everyone in a county that spans 146 square kilometres, with “People” at the very heart of our mission to deliver the best services at maximum cost-efficiency - the perfect place to learn and work, for a Graduate Trainee Accountant who wants to make a difference as well as build a professional career.

**Making a Difference while Building a Career**

Make no mistake, your role as a Graduate Trainee Accountant will add real value to our organisation and the people of our borough. As an important member of the Financial Service team that delivers expert accounting services to the whole Council, this is your opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge right across the finance function - getting involved in all aspects of the teams’ business and taking on more and more responsibilities as your expertise develops and your skills progress.

That variety of work begins with a mix of general financial duties and specialist project work, as part of a work and training programme that will give you a robust understanding of all aspects of the finance function - from accounts payable, monthly control and accounting, management reporting and continuous analysis, through to annual reporting, audit liaison and corporate financial governance.

**Making the most of ‘You’**

To make the most of this opportunity, you’ll have (or be expected to obtain) a 2:1 degree, with the genuine commitment to study for a full accountancy qualification - and the ambition to pursue an accountancy career.

You may already have a grasp of accountancy principles and best practices - but you’ll certainly have the numeracy, IT literacy, powers of analysis, people skills and joy of problem solving that distinguishes the best performers in the accountancy field.

Bring us those attributes and we’ll give you a great deal in return, with a salary range of £22,129 - £38,553 (pay award pending) and excellent benefits including:

- 23 days’ annual leave, increasing to 31 days after 10 years’ service
- 11 paid bank holidays per year
