An opportunity has arisen for a cook based in Bolton. The role involves carrying out catering duties in accordance with contractual Services Output Specification under direction of the Cook Supervisor. This involves Providing support to the Cook Supervisor in delivering catering operations and carry out all duties in accordance with safe working practices and work as an effective member of the catering team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Menu planning (School meals & Café), ensuring all statutory nutritional values are met.
- Food preparation and cooking ensuring all hygiene and temperature control measures are met and recorded where required.
- Manage allergen risk control and maintain all relevant documentation.
- Stock control, and management, to ensure purchasing value for money is obtained at all times, as is mínimal waste and optimum stock holdings.
- Serving of meals to customers, temperature recording and portion control in accordance with the Bellrock Catering Operations policy.
- Providing pre-booked hospitality menu for training, conferences, and meetings at the Castle Hill Centre.
- Maintain a high standard of kitchen hygiene and safety. This includes daily documentation in the Bellrock Food Safety Logbook.
- General kitchen and café duties, e.g., washing of crockery, cutlery, and equipment; setting up and clearing away food and equipment, cleaning of kitchen, its surrounds and equipment including dining tables and chairs.
- Financial reconciliation of cash and card payments in accordance with local Bellrock processes.
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and working practices in accordance with the Food Safety Act and any other relevant legislation.
- To ensure compliance concerning regulations relating to Health and Safety in the workplace to self and others.
- To participate in the provision of a cost effective, value for money Catering Service.
- Provide management support in the event of the absence of the Cook Supervisor and undertake relevant operational duties.
- Any other reasonable and appropriate duties as directed by the Cook Supervisor
- Attend recognised training in relation to Food Safety, Nutrition and Health and safety.

Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E):

- To always work in a safe manner for the benefit of the facilities, company personnel, building users and client, other contractors, visitors, and members of the public.
- To ensure that statutory requirements, codes of practice and procedures relating to the Health and Safety at Work act and any other relevant enforcements are met in full.
- To correctly wear all personal protective equipment supplied in the areas designated for this.
- To maintain and be responsible for the safe use and storage of all cleaning materials and equipment used in the course of his/her duties.
- To report faults, or health and safety related issues to the Facilities Manager in a timely manner.
- To display appropriate signage to ensure that occupants of the building are aware of any circumstances that may affect their health and safety whilst catering/cleaning operations are taking place.
- To carry out as instructed all food safety processes as laid out in Bellrock Food Safety System.

Financial
- To ensure correct and efficient use of all equipment, supplies and materials.
- Operation of tills and money handling and cashing up.

Decision Making Authority:

- Health and Safety issues.
- School and hospitality menus and daily counter service offerings.
- Work method.
- Risk Assessment.

Interaction with Others:

- Daily contact Cook Supervisor, Catering Operative Facilities Manager, Head Caretaker, Helpdesk, Site Team.
- Suppliers, subcontractors, and other visitors
- Working in environment where children will be present.

Your knowledge, skills, qualifications, core qualities and attributes
- Previous experience of a similar role is essential.
- Possess relevant qualifications and documented competencies.
- Ability to work without constant supervision.
- Able to remain calm under pressure.
- Customer service skills.
- Flexible and positive approach to team working.
- Good timekeeping.
- Ability to use cleaning machinery once trained in a safe manner.
- Ability to operate once trained catering equipment in a safe manner.
- Operation of tills and money handling and cashing up.
- Understanding of health and safety issues in a Kitchen.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation would be beneficial.

In return Bellrock are offering a salary of £15,522.00. Working hours are Monday - Friday between hours 7.30 till 14.
