We are looking for a reliable and caring waking night support worker / carer for a 16 year old autistic boy who has epilepsy and additional health needs.
- You would have to cover 2 consecutive nights (ideally either Sunday and Monday or Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday).
- These are waking nights at the family home.
- The training for this position will be during the day initially. Training is provided by the experienced team members on his health needs, care needs, and behavioural support.
- Although he has a lot of care needs please note that the position is in a family home and not an institution.

It is also an opportunity to learn a lot and to be part of a very nice supportive team.

**Starting rate** is £15 per hour this increases to £16 after the probation period.
**Hours**:This position is for 26 hours per week or can also be full time (38 hours per week).

This specific position is mainly about waking nights support but if full time could be a combination of waking night support and day support.

You would need to be willing to commit for a minimum of 12 months.

Ideally you would be able also to take on more hours in weeks when your colleagues would be away on holiday.

You will have a certain amount of paid holidays too - when working full time 28 days of paid holiday plus extra holidays for every bank holiday worked.

6 months probation period.

**About you**
- You need to be physically strong, fun and patient as well as very reliable.
- Experience with disabled teenagers / children and autism is preferred.
- This might be a good position for someone who has a keen interest in disability, psychology, nursing and the position would suit a student of a relevant field or someone who is planning to study this in future. For part time applicants - we recommend that this job is not taken to supplement your existing work roster as we are hoping for someone who can bring some flexibility for the team.
- The interest in special needs and autism has to be represented in you CV and or explained in your cover letter.
- You would need to be willing to commit for a minimum of 12 months.

**About the Teenager**:

- He lives at home with his family and dog. He has a team of learning support workers & carers and his education is overseen by an ABA consultant.
- His team help him with his daily life & routines & all of his personal care.
- He is a friendly, non verbal, very autistic teenager. He needs help with all elements of daily life. He is developing his communication skills using picture exchange and gestures, such as pointing.
- Unfortunately he often also needs a lot of care as he can have seizures which lead to him needing to spend time in hospital as he has a lot of health needs.
