Lathe Operator

"Traditional" Lathe Turner Hourly rate - £14 per hour but negotiable on experience (Salary £27,664) Hours - 38 hours per week, 8am-4:40pm Mon to Thurs, 8am -2:30pm Friday. Overtime available 1 hour in the mornings and on Sat mornings. Responsibilities Involve: - Selecting the cutting tools for machining operations using CNC or conventional lathes - Mounting and dismounting workpieces on/from lathe - Performing roughing and finishing operations - Checking finished pieces to ensure compliance with technical drawings - Carrying out maintenance of turning lathe and tools - Cleaning turning lathe and work area, e.g. removing swarf / chips **Skills**: - Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings - Ability to use manual and CNC turning lathes - Knowledge of industrial machining techniques - Ability to use measuring equipment for quality control checks - Knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices and procedures for machine tools - Strong manual skills - Reliability, precision and attention to detail - Ability to work with mínimal supervision and to follow instructions - Flexible approach to work hours and willingness to work shifts KEYWORDS: lathe, CNC, mechanical, engineering, machine tools Unfortunately, due to time restrictions we cannot respond to every applicant, in the event that we haven’t contacted you within 48 hours please take it you have not been successful for this particular role, but your details will be kept on file and consideredfor all future vacancies.
