**Quantity Surveyor**

**Location: Hybrid but based in Altrincham**

**Salary: Up to £60k**

**OBJECTIVE**
- To take responsibility for the cost & value reporting for a sub-project whilst providing key inputs into the negotiation & resolution of commercial claims.

**KEY CHALLENGES**
- To build effective relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring quantity surveying (QS) objectives are completed within the timescale and parameters dictated by internal & client Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- To assist in the tender/bid process for new work packages across new & existing clients

**POSITION SPECIFICATIONS**
- Preparation of Tender Packages, enquiries, analysis, negotiation, scope of works & levelling activities culminating in client recommendation & issue of award letter.
- Evaluate tenders & produce tender recommendations in accordance with the National Joint Consultative Committee for Building (NJCC) codes of tendering.
- Conduct measurements & calculations either on-site or from drawings resulting in accurate cost evaluations & associated reports
- Issue variation instructions based on scope of works & other contractual documentation for multiple projects
- Provide advise & expertise on compensation events & change requests
- Negotiate valuations & final accounts across a range of activities for different projects
- Provide routine contract administration, management & advice
- Price benchmarking
- Issuing & managing all internal PO’s issued to suppliers
- Managing QS interface on internal database ensuring all costs are tracked & validated.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Property Consultants, Project Engineers & other key stakeholders
- Timely & accurate recording of information on internal and client databases
- Prepare high-quality, accurate reports for both internal & external distribution as required
- Understand, promote and comply with the company’s QA, Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures

**PERSON SPECIFICATIONS**
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Relevant work experience in a professional services environment
- Experience within the UK Telecommunications industry highly desirable (not essential)
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal & written
- Strong working knowledge of contract documents, construction practises & techniques
- Ability to analyse data/information, interpret & report on results or findings
- Ability to interpret & make calculations based on drawings
- Sound commercial awareness & business acumen
- Flexible & professional approach to work
- Self-motivated, confident & organised
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with all relevant stakeholders
- Ability to handle heavy workload & competing priorities whilst meeting performance expectations
- Have a full driving licence and be able to attend site visits, client meetings and planning meetings as required including overnight stays, occasional long journeys and evening planning committee meetings when workload dictates.
- Sound IT skills including Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel

**GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Quantity surveying**
- Based on available information, derived directly on-site or from drawings, prepare detailed valuations of intended scope of works ensuring that all costs are captured & an accurate valuation is provided within agreed timeframes
- Prepare & disseminate all cost & value reporting for sub-projects, delivering all requisite reports to acceptable quality standards within agreed timeframes
- Verify costs reports to ensure the estimates provided are accurate, resulting in confirmation or rejection of valuations along with rationale behind your advice
- Support project teams as required with the purchase/ordering & tracking of kit/equipment completing ensuring all kit/equipment is available on time for scheduled site works
- Provide expertise & guidance to internal stakeholders on any matter relating to quantity surveying

**Tendering**
- Play a lead role in the preparation of tender packages requiring analysis, negotiation, detailed understanding of scope of works & levelling to produce a successful, commercially & financially viable bid
- All tender submissions & associated activities are to comply with the NJCC codes for tendering without exception

**Variations & commercial claims**
- Issue detailed, accurate & timely variation instructions to different stakeholders to capture all ‘out of scope’ works that have been conducted or requested
- Upon request provide expertise, guidance & input on:

- compensation events
- change requests
- valuations
- final accounts
- ensuring that the optimal commercial outcome is achieved for the business

**Contracts Administration**
- Provide high-quality contract administration, management & advice as requested by internal stakeholders, ensuring all contractual issues/risks are addressed & resolved appropriately
