The Site Manager shall support the Project Lead by providing effective, hands-on leadership of the site and sub-contractor teams, in line with our core values and objectives, to deliver their section of the construction project successfully.
The Site Manager is responsible for ensuring all Company policies, procedures and management systems are implemented and maintained at the site level. They must work collaboratively with colleagues in delivering the overall project.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensure the construction department's primary objectives are met by the project team
- Work in a collaborative, positive and inclusive manner, ensuring you communicate effectively with all members of the project team.
- Lead by example and strive for improved workforce motivation, to generate higher levels of performance.
- Take ownership of the programme for works under your control and, following a review of labour, plant & material resources with the supply chain, compile short-term programmes to ensure key dates are met,
- Ensure the work under your control is coordinated with the works of others, across the project, and ensure that Daily Activity Briefings are conducted with sub-contractors each morning.
- Take ownership of Health & Safety and strive towards zero accidents/incidents during the project. In particular;
- Ensure that all works are carried out safely and in line with the company safety policy/management system/Construction Phase Plan
- Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping and compliance with Site Rules
- Ensure that all operatives and supervisory staff are fully trained and competent to undertake the role/task
- Ensure all personnel receive a safety induction & ensure toolbox talks are carried out regularly
- Ensure there is a proactive process of near miss (safety observations) reporting
- Ensure all Risk Assessments and Method Statements are reviewed for suitability and signed off before works commence and ensure any high-risk operations have a permit to work
- Carry out weekly safety inspections and ensure management of safe site access and egress routes
- Conduct HSE committee meetings for all trades under your control.
- Take ownership of Quality to ensure there are zero snags or Defects at Completion. In particular:
- Follow the requirements of the Project Quality Plan
- Ensure that all works are carried out by the relevant drawings & specification
- Ensure that works are inspected in line with the company quality procedures
- Ensure effective Inspection_ and _Test Plans are in place and reinforced at the site level
- Promote and reward high standards of workmanship
- Do not accept Non-Conforming works
- Work in conjunction with the commercial team to ensure that the works for which you are responsible are delivered within the established budget. In particular;
- Ensure sub-contractors undertake the full scope of works and provide the agreed attendance
- Ensure Instructions are issued in the correct format and with the required authorisation
- Ensure Requests for Information are responded to in a timely manner
- Undertake regular progress meetings and distribute concise minutes within 24 hours of the meeting
- Use Clearance Notices in the prescribed manner
- Issue Non-Conformance Reports where works are not in compliance with the drawings or specification
- Ensure Handovers are undertaken on time and in accordance with the agreed criteria
- Ensure any Purchase Order requests for materials and plant are submitted in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate records through daily site diaries, labour, plant and material returns.
- Undertake accurate & regular reporting on all works under your control to ensure, that at all times, you are fully aware of the status of your works.
- Provide concise, factual & transparent reports of your work to the Project Lead, ensuring the reports include clear solutions to any areas of underperformance.
