About the role
Due to the nature of the role all potential applicants should read the person specification carefully to ensure that they meet the essential criteria before applying.
We are seeking to appoint one effective, organised and efficient individual as a Coroner’s Officer, on a full-time (37 hours per week), to join the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Coroner Service. The role entails liaising directly on all aspects of sudden and unexpected deaths within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and on occasion from elsewhere. The role includes acting as a principle liaison and point of contact between numerous external agencies and the families of the deceased.
The post is based at Lawrence Court in Huntingdon (no parking is provided), although working in Peterborough other Cambridgeshire locations will be required on occasions.
An understanding of the requirement for confidentiality is essential, as are good communication skills. The nature of this job requires the post holder to view deceased persons, photographs of deceased persons and to work directly with the recently bereaved. Occasionally they will also be required to attend post mortems. Post holders need to be aware of, and able to cope with all these requirements.
In return we can offer you professional support, appropriate training and the opportunity to be part of a supportive team committed to working to high standards for the benefit of our service users.
Normal working hours will be Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.00pm and Friday 8.00am to 3.30pm.
Salary on appointment is dependent on current relevant experience and skills.
