**Overview of project/role**

In this role you will be a highly motivated expert practitioner who will assist the STARS Safety and Citizenship Operations Manager in providing professional leadership and a high standard of education and training

As the Team Leader, you are expected to inspire the School Liaison Officers (SLOs) and Transport Youth Engagement Officers (TYEOs) to reinforce the purpose, vision and core values of the TfL STARS programmes at London Transport Museum. You are required to motivate and manage the team to achieve their individual and team targets. You will train, assess, monitor and coach SLOs and TYEOs in their presentation skills and use of display equipment. You are expected to conduct observations and provide feedback on In School Presentations, secondary school sessions and Junior Citizenship schemes.

You will also project manage the setup of Junior Citizenship Schemes (JCS) and Community events, which may include weekend work. You will attend partnership meetings including Junior Citizenship Scheme Coordination.

Liaising with agencies and stakeholders to develop partnership working are part of your role. You will be responsible for the production of support materials and development and revision of formats of work.

Up to 50% of your role will involve personally delivering sessions to a range of audiences. Provision of early management cover and spare duty is expected of you as the Team Leader. You will also be responsible for raising purchase orders and be able to approve timesheets for Agency staff.

You will provide material support in the delivery of the STARS accreditation process.

The work is multi-site across all areas of Greater London with the potential for visits to areas outside of Greater London while carrying presentation equipment and utilising public transport.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Training and assessment of Transport Youth Engagement Officers.
- Line management of School Liaison Officers.
- Reporting to the Safety and Citizenship Operations Manager to deliver objectives to ensure the TfL STARS team at London Transport Museum achieve their targets.
- Training, monitoring, assessing and coaching School Liaison Officers to ensure high standards are maintained.
- Supporting the development of a range of educational programmes and resources encouraging active travel and the safe, responsible and respectful use of public transport across the TfL network.
- Facilitating positive relationships between schools, communities, TfL and local operators.
- Regularly monitoring and evaluating educational resources, session delivery and activities.
- Supporting the delivery of the STARS accreditation process.

**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent time management skills

- Computer literacy (Office suite)
- A good standard of general education to minimum GCSE level
- An understanding of the operational issues of TFL operational modes
- A good working knowledge of the National Curriculum (D)
- A teaching or presenting qualification (D)
- An interest in the history and development of London’s Transport system (D)
- Vehicle licence and willingness to drive Museum vehicles in London up to 7.5 Tonnes (Educational vehicles up to 7.5T may be driven on a 3.5T licence that has been held for two or more years) (D)
- Experience of teaching or presenting in an educational capacity
- Managing demanding deadlines and targets
- Experience in organising school or community events
- Practical experience in the use of information technology in the education sector
- Previous experience in supervising or managing others
- Previous experience in the development of educational resources
- Previous experience in the management of stakeholder relationships
