**Purpose of Job**

The main role of the Prescribing Team Administrator is to support the Prescribing Service Team and you will train to undertake the following duties:
**General Duties**
- Receiving patients consulting with members of team
- Be able to deal with patients in person and by telephone answering queries and requests for information
- Process appointment requests for prescription related matters
- Taking messages and recording requests for visits and telephone consultations, ensuring callers are directed to the relevant professional
- Deal with other telephone queries including community staff, hospital staff and other calls
- To liaise with Community Health teams to organise community visits for patients on behalf of the clinical team

**Repeat Prescribing**
- Adhere to the practice prescribing policies & the competencies required of the Prescribing workflow
- To process all repeat prescription requests and process these in accordance with the protocol
- Effectively deal with prescription queries from patients & pharmacies
- Liaise with the GPs every day to ensure the timely authorisation repeat prescriptions
- Accept delivery of NHS England prescription stationery and store safely under lock and key
- Liaise with pharmacies regarding any day to day issues
- Liaise or issue tasks regarding queries
- Ensure prescribing targets are met
- Ensure early repeats are not processed (not early 7 days before script due) unless exceptional circumstances
- Always check the prompt box for advice on the patient’s needs
- Understand the importance and timely issue of controlled drugs
- Understand the dose and directions of medication
- Adhere to the filing, safe storage and recording of prescription stationery
- Understand all FP10s must be signed by a GP before issue
- Understand that patients must be contacted for an annual review before renewed 6 monthly or 12 monthly prescriptions may be authorised
- Understand that patients must be contacted to advise if early prescriptions are requested to avoid complaints when patients presents to collect script 48 hours later
- Understand common abbreviations, drug forms, drug strengths, generics and branded products, unit’s measurement, transfer of medicines in bulk and quantity calculations

**Administration**
- To work in accordance of written protocols
- To maintain accurate patient records
- To action and respond to Footfall (website) queries and requests
- To action all relevant tasks as requested by the clinical team ensuring urgent tasks are a priority
- Deal with requests from GPs and nurses for assistance with administrative task such as follow up actions from hospital communication and test results
- Registrations of new patient’s computer data entry and medical records (have knowledge of Practice area) and request medication history
- To promote and deal with requests to set up online services (patient access) for patients and to deal and action all queries
- Attend meetings when required
- Attend relevant training courses both in-house and externally to develop expertise
- Monitoring of stationery and other supplies and reordering when necessary

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: From £9.52 per hour
