These stories need to be told to local residents daily and, when required, to audiences across Scotland and the rest of the UK.

As one of the journalists on the team, you’ll be a valued part of the public face and sound of the BBC across the islands. One day you could be reporting on new hydrogen fuel, the next day you could be covering one of the UK’s leading arts festivals. You need to be able to get on well with people; be prepared for live broadcasting, production and presentation; have strong digital skills to deliver multimedia reporting; and be willing to roll your sleeves up and get stuck into whatever needs to be done.

You’ll need to do all this while maintaining high professional standards of journalism and ensure BBC Orkney’s radio programmes are of the highest quality possible. You’ll be joining a team with extensive editorial experience, with many opportunities to contribute and develop. You’ll also need to contribute content across social media and digital platforms and you’ll be tasked with producing and delivering a series of 6 monthly long form non-news programmes during our winter radio schedule.

We are looking for **2 Journalists **to be based at the BBC Radio Orkney studio in Kirkwall. There is a requirement to participate in a morning programme presentation rota which involves a 6am start at the studio at least once a week.

**Main Responsibilities**:
The main responsibilities are radio reporting, production and live presentation as well as digital content creation. There will be opportunities to deliver TV content too.
- Ability to produce and present a variety of live radio news and other audio programmes is essential
- Ability to record and edit audio material is essential
- Ability to get on well in a small team is essential
- Experience of multimedia reporting is desirable
- Knowledge of how to capture and edit images and video material of a quality suitable for publication or broadcast is desirable.
- A driving licence is desirable
- A minimum of two years recent journalistic experience.
- A flair for turning original ideas into engaging cross-platform content is a must.
