**Job Title**: School Caretaker
**Location**: Newbiggin-by-the-Sea
**Working Hours**: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week (Part-time hours also available)
**Start Date**: Immediate or within 1 week’s notice
**DBS Requirement**: Must hold a recent Enhanced DBS or be registered on the Update Service

**Job Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensure the school site is safe, secure, and well-maintained at all times
- Perform general maintenance and minor repairs across the school buildings and grounds
- Open and/or lock up the school premises daily, including setting alarms
- Monitor heating, lighting, and utilities to ensure efficient energy use
- Carry out regular health and safety checks and report any hazards or issues
- Support with setting up rooms for meetings, assemblies, or events as required
- Liaise with contractors and service providers on site
- Maintain external areas such as playgrounds, car parks, and walkways
- Ensure cleaning supplies and maintenance stock are replenished as needed
- Assist with deliveries and porterage duties when necessary

**Requirements**:

- **Recent Enhanced DBS** or registered on the **DBS Update Service**:

- Available to start **immediately** or within **1 week's notice**:

- Previous caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or similar experience (preferably within a school environment)
- Basic knowledge of health & safety and building maintenance
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with a good level of initiative
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

**Working Hours**:

- **Full-time**: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- **Part-time options** available - please specify your availability when applying
