An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Finance Business Partner (band 6) in the Financial Management Team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This role will be focussed on supporting Sussex Premier Health (SPH) and the Central Financial Management team.

**The main duties and responsibilities of the role include**:

- Working closely with budget holders in order to achieve and maintain financial control and financial balance within the clinical divisions, the corporate and commercial divisions.
- Always acting to promote financial awareness across the divisions.
- Producing accurate financial management reports required by the divisions within the business reporting timetable, to include investigation of budget variances and run rate changes, highlighting areas of concern, taking appropriate action including forecast changes, and where necessary, liaising with appropriate managers.
- Maintaining accurate supporting budget documentation including budget amendments.
- Supporting colleagues in terms of understanding financial information (internal and external) and the financial consequences of decisions taken.
- Working co-operatively with other Deputies to ensure common standards of accounting practice are maintained within the department.
- Keeping the Finance Business Partner informed of all significant issues across the divisions, which may impact on the financial performance of the Trust.
- Developing additional information to support financial management reporting including budget reconciliations and forecasting and explain and present to divisions to be able to make decisions.
- Line managing the Management Accountant, ensuring that post holder fully complies with their duties.

The role will entail working within the Financial Management Team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. The role will involve working closely with members of the Sussex Premier Health (SPH) team as well as other finance functions including Financial Services, Contracting, the Programme Support Office and Procurement.

Specificactivitieswill include the full range of normal financial management activities in an acute and community trust setting. These will be operationally focused, and will include:

- To prepare annual budgets including the use of appropriate software packages and liaising with Finance Business Partner and internal stakeholders.
- To lead on monthly forecasting, including the use of appropriate software packages.
- To lead financial management meetings where appropriate and provide financial advice as required.
- To provide support and assistance to the Finance Business Partner.
- To deputise for the Finance Business Partner as and when necessary
- To produce ad hoc information and answer queries on request from business and other managers, and give finance support where directed and requested.
- To consistently promote financial awareness and the financial management discipline.
- To train budget holders in the financial management of their budgets and to develop their financial abilities through informal training.
- To support the wider finance function.
- Support the Finance Business Partner in the planning of any service developments as part of the Trust’s wider strategic plans including the clinical strategy.
