**Job Overview**

**Duties**
- Establish high standards of organisation and co-ordination within your department
- Ensure standards, ratios and conditions of registration are maintained at all times
- Maintain up-to-date records for all children
- Oversee the successful development of Flying Start and Foundation Phase provision for funded three year olds in line with the WG Framework.
- Lead action planning for improvement across all areas of the setting.
- Establish, develop and maintain professional working relationships with school leadership, staff and external agencies such as Health Care bodies or Social Services
- Liaise with external partners such as Wrexham Local Authority, CIW and Estyn completing any required documentation.
- Manage behaviour effectively, and involve children in planning activities
- Ensure setting policies and procedures are up to date, implemented and reviewed when necessary and that the setting is fully operational on a daily basis
- Ensure nutritional needs of children, and hygiene, health and safety standards are met at all times.
- Audit, evaluate and manage risk ensuring any remedial action is taken immediately
- Keep up to date with documentation and legal requirements around childcare standards, procedures and information systems

**Personnel**
- Manage staff absence and cover, ensuring ratios are adhered to at all times
- Manage staff reviews, appraisals and any disciplinary or grievance matters
- Develop a training plan, evaluate training undertaken by your team
- Support and supervise all staff with their day-to-day duties
- Organise staff DBS checks and ensure staff records are up to date.

**Financial**
- Review and monitor occupancy levels to ensure maximum capacity
- Keep an inventory of setting resources. Manage care, maintenance and security of equipment and toys and record any breakages or missing resources.
- Liaise with setting bursar to formulate booking forms and monitor and control department costs including voucher payment set up and finance forms.
- Manage timesheets for 30 hours Government funding, WG and LA funding

**Qualifications**
- At least 2 years’ experience in a childcare environment (preferably Management level)
- Excellent communication and administration skills
- A qualification in Early Childhood Education is essential to a minimum of Level 3
- Ability to use initiative, plan, organise and prioritise work load
- Experience with a wide variety of ages
- Valid Full or Emergency Paediatric First Aid Certificate
- Enhanced disclosure required through the ‘Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
