Physician Associate in Care of The Elderly

An exciting opportunity is available for a Physician Associate to join the Elderly Care team at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
You will be acting within your professional boundaries, providing care for patients from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care under the supervision of a Consultant.
You will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients, in consultation with the supervising Consultant. You will work with the multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of policy and procedures and meet the needs of patients.
You'll provide consistent, high quality medical support to the Care of the Elderly Medical Department within PAH NHS Trust. You'll will work alongside the Specialist Doctors and Specialist Nurses in the Department to which they are assigned on rotation, to assess and examine medical patients, present them, initiate and interpret investigations and recommend treatment. Career development will be encouraged and supported with opportunities to develop expertise in all areas of Medicine and in performing practical procedures.

- To assess, clerk and review patients that are referred to medicine via the Emergency Department or General Practice.
- To join ward rounds and help with procedures such as blood taking, cannulas, blood gases and urinary catheters and the support of the team in booking of procedures and investigations as appropriate.
- Be actively involved in in-patient care, liaising with ward staff and other members of the clinical team as appropriate.
- Provide clinical advice and support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis through to treatment.
- To act as a consistent member of the medical team and to help in handover processes and continuity of care for our patients.
- Keep accurate, legible and concise patient records in accordance with professional standards, codes of conduct and Trust policies and procedures.
