We are recruiting for a Peer Support Worker in the Community Mental Health teams in Crewe
Our Mental Health services are committed to introducing peer support to strengthen the delivery of recovery focused support.
The role of Peer Support Worker has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience* of using a Mental Health service, to work alongside mental health professionals, inspire hope and provide a positive role model for people overcoming mental health challenges.
(*Lived experience of receiving care can also include being a carer or family member of someone who has used a Mental Health service.)
The posts are permanent, will be based in a specific team, but travel around the locality will be required.

**Main duties of the job**:
Our community Mental Health services support adults with a wide range of mental health conditions and experiences, including:
- Neuro diverse conditions, such as Autism and ADHD
- Cognitive impairment, including, but not limited to, Dementia
- Multiple long term physical and mental health conditions.
Applicants must have personal experience of a secondary Mental Health services.
Providing intentional peer support and practical assistance, the Peer Support Worker (PSW) will model positive peer support and use parts of their recovery story to empower individuals to achieve their recovery hopes, dreams and goals.
A PSW will
- establish supportive, empathic, non-directive and respectful mutual relationships, so that individuals using mental health services recognise their own strengths, abilities and effectively manage their own Mental Health,
- arrange access to information and education that can inform an individual about their decisions,
- liaise with other professionals and individuals to plan delivery of care and support,
- establish and maintain effective and appropriate communication and working relationships that respects everyone’s views, autonomy, and culture.
